Syrian Conflict - Community Tasks

Hi guys, just like some similar threads around here I will use this thread to coordinate the tasks left to do to finish the Syrian Conflict Factions. Since the Syrian Rebels are done only a few things are left to do to finish the Army faction as well.

Anyone is welcome to have a go at these tasks, even beginners. I can tell you that it's a lot of fun to learn a new skill :) So if you have some time and interest don't wait any longer :p Not all work left to be done is listed here. For all I point you to our design plan.

Post in this thread or contact me threw PM if you are interested or want to have some more information. I can offer guidance,references & source files where needed.

Easy tasks

Mi-8 re-Texture Finish
The existing PR mi-8 needs to have a different color pallet made for it so it looks like the real life counterparts of the Syrian Airforce Mi-8. We already started on this but don't have the time to finish it. It requires some color changes and more dirt and scratches to be added. I can offer you our WIP PSD file to work with.


mi-24 hind Retexture finish
The existing PR mi-24 needs to have a different color pallet made for it so it looks like the real life counterparts of the Syrian Airforce mi-24 Hind. We already started on this but don't have the time to finish it. It requires some color changes and more dirt and scratches to be added. I can offer you our WIP PSD file to work with.


Medium tasks

RPG-29 UV and model finish
This requires a bit of knowledge of 3d-modelling at hand but most of it is already done. The UV is nearly complete but needs to be re-packaged. It also requires the making of a set of LODS which also requires some different UV maps to be made. This is not the most fun tasks of all but is very much needed to finish this amazing new HAT kit for PR :)


Gaz 34 truck series Texture set
The model needs a re-export which I can do myself but also requires an entire new texture set to be made. As the original model came with pretty bad diffuse textures and no normal or specular maps. So this requires all 3 (diffuse,normal,specular) to be made. I can provide you with a easy model to work with and all existing textures and UV maps.


Difficult tasks

T-55 LODs and Remake
The model came to us without LODS and some other minor issues. And unfortunately no original max files were available. This means that the model has to be imported threw the existing BF2 mesh files which comes with some problems. For a tank the biggest problem is that the entire tracks has to be re-made and rigged from scratch.
This tasks holds remaking the tracks, making sufficiently optimized LODS and remake a wreck model and LOD for it. It also requires a re-export which is not easy for BF2.
